Product Description

This extraordinary book is based on the collective wisdom of the scores of contributors to the MoneySaving Old-Style section of MoneySavingExpert.com - the award-winning, trend-setting website which, in less than four years, has attracted over one million UK users a month. The Old-Style forum started when many of the older visitors to the site decided to share their accumulated knowledge with other younger users. It has swiftly developed into a discussion on living life cheaply, healthily, ethically and thriftily, with all generations together searching for a path to Old-Style bliss. Edited by Martin Lewis who, as well as being the founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, is a newspaper columnist, TV and radio money guru and presenter, and author of the bestselling The Money Diet, this lively book cannot fail to appeal to anyone who is interested in living better for less. The book includes hints and tips on: - How to budget - Cooking from scratch - Cleaning for pennies - Gardening - Making homemade gifts - How to shop

5.0 out of 5 stars Live better for less, 3 Sep 2006
By R. W. Steele - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An absolute must for anybody on a low budget or who does just want to reduce the rip-off factor built into high street shopping.

Using tips here I have more than halved my household budget and actually live and eat even better than I used to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Martin Lewis and Old Style tips are fab!, 9 Oct 2006
By Book Worm (Staffs) - See all my reviews
I love the whole ethos of Martin Lewis' moneysaving website and have both copies of his previous books which focus on consumer advice to make your money go further.

This book concentrates on going back to basics and looks at domestic matters including advice on cleaning your home the old-fashioned way and feeding the family like royalty on a peasant's budget!

If you're the sort of person who loves programmes like Anthea Turner's Perfect Housewife or Kim and Aggie's How Clean is Your Home?, then you'll love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best buy of the year!, 10 Dec 2006
By TKP (Surrey, UK) - See all my reviews
What a great book. Like the web site [...], it's full of great hints and tips to cut costs, and still live well. There's no need to spend a fortune on big companies' marketing ideas, or overpriced chemicals (food and otherwise) in expensive packaging. I think everyone should own a copy, and refer to it often!
