As the owner of quite a few Hammerfall CDs I have to say this is their best offering to date. All songs are perfectly formed catchy power metal masterpieces !. Highlight tracks are Threshold, The Fire Burns Forever, Rebel Inside, Natural High, and Carved In Stone.

If You like Manowar or Helloween you will love Hammerfall !.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hammerfall album in the last few years.... 31 Oct 2006
By David Falzano - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Last year Hammerfall's 'Chapter V' album was good but not quite as good as it's predecessor 'Crimson Thunder.' Now with 'Threshold' Hammerfall is back to what we expect from them & more! This album is rockin' track after track & it doesn't seem to get old. Don't pass this up if you're a diehard fan!

3.0 out of 5 stars Threshold of Mediocrity 25 May 2007
By Ravenlord4 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I'm a huge fan of Hammerfall's first two albums, but I stopped following the band after Renegade which I felt was disapointing. I picked up the newest Hammerfall release just to see what they've been up to lately since I hadn't purchased their last two albums Crimson Thunder or Chapter 5.

This album isn't all bad. A few tracks such as Genocide, Fire Burns, and Natural High are good, but this is nowhere near a solid effort as their earlier material such as Legacy of Kings and Glory to the Brave.

For me Hammerfall is a band of A level musicians who are currently writing C level music. My advice to fans who are considering getting into Hammerfall would be to skip this album and pick up Legacy of Kings instead which is their greatest album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Back with a vengeance!!! 6 Nov 2006
By rageofcreation - Published on Amazon.com

The mighty Templars return with their best album since "Crimson Thunder". Matter of fact this ranks right up there with "Crimson Thunder" as my second favorite HammerFall disc to date. Only "Legacy Of Kings" can top it. This has much more passion and energy than their last album (which frankly was a bit bland). This album roars with a fire that will keep Hammerfall's legacy solid in the history of heavy metal music. Some songs aren't quite as catchy as on past albums but in a way that is a good thing. It's like they have infused this with a new dose of heavieness that has not really been present on any previous HammerFall release. Check out the first single, "Natural High", to hear what I am talking about. Not only is the overall feeling from the music darker than before but the lyrics seem to be a bit darker as well. Don't get me wrong, the anthemic sing along choruses are still there just not in a way that overwhelms the listener. Fans who thought their earlier material was just a bit too cheesy might do well to consider this new effort from a seasoned band. The production is stellar and adds to the greatness of this album.

What you get here is no compromise balls to the wall heavy metal. Influenced by bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, HammerFall take the classic power metal genre to the next level. My actual rating is 4 and 1/2 stars.
