Product Description

Recently widowed, Hannah Firth is still young – young enough to dream of a new life. When her spiteful daughter-in-law uses her as an unpaid servant, Hannah tries to leave, but she is unaware of the depths that Patty’s spite will lead her to.

Nathaniel King’s life is ruined when his landlord’s son lays waste to his market garden for a prank – and the resulting feud puts Nathaniel’s livelihood at stake.

Hannah has only a few coins and dreams of a happier future to sustain her as she tramps the roads and evades pursuit. When she meets Nathaniel, the attraction between them cannot be denied and they join forces. But their enemies have money and powerful allies on their side and will stop at nothing to get rid of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Threepenny Dreams, 26 May 2005

This review is from: Threepenny Dreams (Paperback)
I listened to this one on CD and I just loved it, spent a lot of time carrying my CD player around just so I could keep going with the story.
Hannah Firth and Nathaniel King are wonderful characters and following their lives will keep you reading (or listening), they are well supported by many other great characters. I also found the book gave a good view of life in rural England in the 1860's.
Threepenny Dreams is linked to `A Pennyworth of Sunshine' and `Twopenny Rainbows' but is not a sequel.
I would definitely recommend this book to read (or listen to) and I will be reading more from Anna Jacobs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Threepenny Dreams by Anna Jacobs, 16 Jan 2012

This review is from: Threepenny Dreams (Kindle Edition)
It's no secret I'm an Anna Jacobs fan. I find her writing has a wonderful captivating flow, turns reading into a most enjoyable experience.

Well, I've raised the bar somewhat because I've just read 'Threepenny Dreams' by Anna Jacobs and it is without doubt the most engaging story I've ever read.

Put 'Threepenny Dreams' by Anna Jacobs on your must read list because without it you have no hope of ever feeling satisfied. The story told and the story telling is pure genius.

Threepenny Dreams is the third book in a three novel series titled, The Irish Sisters. (A Pennyworth of Sunshine, Twopenny Rainbows and Threepenny Dreams) All three books are written parallel in time from a different character perspective, quite intriguing as it allows each novel to stand complete alone with a bonus for those who read them all. An extra bonus can be found by reading them all in order. These books etch an impressive author mark on the reader as well as a fine story experience.

Even more surprising, Threepenny Dreams doesn't have an Irish Sister in sight but don't let that small detail stop you reading this marvellous novel. I'm giving Threepenny Dreams five stars, it's worth at least eight.
