Deeply satisfying 14 Nov 2002
Format:Paperback
Marge Piercy’s latest novel explores the complex and unconventional lives of one American family’s grandmother, mother and daughter. Although outwardly happy living their separate lives, each feels incomplete inside. Then, a serious health challenge to the eldest forces them all to re-examine the relative importance of their professional, personal and family relations. In the end, blood tells and the three generations come together with a deeper understanding of just what is most important in life. This deeply satisfying book entertains, shocks and challenges our understanding of love, life and family responsibilities. Highly recommended.

excellent 11 Nov 2000

Format:Paperback
A very satisfying book and one of Marge Piercy's most commercial. It is a very contemporary story of a successful woman lawyer of 49 whose life becomes the a conflict between her own needs for independence and those of her mother, struggling to recover from a stroke and also her two daughters who are both tryihg to find their way in life. The dilemma of how a woman lives her life in today's society is beautifully delineated. Highly recommended.
