This book was recommended to me by a friend and although it is different from the genres I am accustomed to, I am very pleased I gave it a try.
Tieg's father had been captured in slavery during the Roman Times and Tieg looked after his sheep during his absence as he remained hopeful that his father would return one day. He was very supportive of his mother too. Then one night his clan was attacked by another and this turned in a brutal battle. Tieg showed so much bravery and courage that he managed to chase the rival clan by himself after much fighting. It took his clan a while to find him but when they did, he became their hero and they started treating him as their leader. The loss of lives was tragic and his dad returned not long after this terrible conflict to find that they too had lost someone dear to them.
When they were betrayed by someone they considered trustworthy, they were attacked when least expected and Tieg and a few others from his clan were captured and shipped off to be sold in slavery. This book was so full of surprises, suspense as well as being action packed that it held my attention right through. Tieg and his clan members went through a lot of hardship during their captivity but they remained hopeful and brave.
I won't go into any more details about their determination to find a way back home but Tieg managed to achieve something others couldn't amongst the clans before he set off to find his beloved wife who was captured.
I would recommend this book to those who like reading about adventure, rivalry and loyalty with some romance.
