Product Description

Marietta Winters must save her brother, and only one man can help - the virile and enigmatic Gabriel Noble. His only cost - three favors of his choosing...Entangled in the sensual web that Gabriel spins, and cut from society, Marietta knows it would be folly to fall for him. Yet, even as she swears against it, Marietta is the moth to his flame. Gabriel finds satisfaction unwrapping the sexual edges of his amusing, tart-tongued partner and watching her bloom. However, her brother's case takes a gut wrenching turn when Gabriel recognizes all of the victims her brother is accused of murdering. All tied indelibly to Gabriel's sordid past. Between juggling the police, saving Marietta's brother, and hiding his past - both from Marietta and society - every action becomes fraught with peril and keen with betrayal. And falling in love may be the worst danger of them all.

Excellent 10 Jun 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
It's been a while since I've enjoyed a regency as much as I enjoyed Anne Mallory's Three Nights of Sin; the characters are perfect, the plot interesting and the romance captivating.

Marietta's brother has been arrested and named the Middlesex murderer, she turns to Gabriel who promises to help her clear the family name in exchange for three unnamed favours. Marietta must live with him while he investigates the case and play numerous roles throughout the enquiry.

Marietta Winters is a sharp character, she's described as plain though Gabriel thinks not, she's clever and speaks her mind. Having been poor since her parents died she's used to mucking in to get the job done. Shrewd and more than a little nosy she drives the plot and enriches Gabriel's character.

Gabriel is dark, manipulative and hides secrets from his past. His manipulation of Marietta is so cleverly done that while it's obvious to both the reader and her it doesn't make the reader dislike him. Manipulation is his way of gaining power, something he has worked hard to recover since it was stolen from him as a youth. His secrets are heartbreaking and the way that both he and Marietta deal with them is artfully done. Enthralled by him I just couldn't get enough, such a sexy and intriguing character.

There's so much chemistry in this book that the pages burn; initially they dislike each other and I often find it's difficult to maintain chemistry when the hero and heroine are at odds. This is not the case here. Mallory writes from Marietta's point of view at great length from the opening page, very slowly she begins to show us Gabriel's thoughts which is very cunning device and succeeds in not giving away too much too soon. As the sections with Gabriel's point of view increase and begin to harmonise with Marietta's then so does the chemistry increase, building slowly and then rushing into an onslaught of feeling.

The search for the real Middlesex Murderer scrapes away at Gabriel's secrets and irrevocably links Marietta to him. Even the mystery was well written - throwing in twists and turns until the real, and totally unexpected, killer is revealed

Three Nights of Sin is a dark romance, holding extremes of emotion and fascinatingly well written characters. This was my first Mallory novel - I now find myself thoroughly hooked and off to buy the rest!

By Helen Hancox TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Mass Market Paperback
There's nothing really original about this book. The cover artwork looks like thousands of other books published in this genre, and particularly by this publisher. The title is semi-titillating but slightly inaccurate when you read the book (there were plenty more than three nights of sin). The feisty, independent, down-on-her-luck heroine is familiar, as is the arrogant, hard-to-read alpha male hero. The setting in the seamy underbelly of London where tavern wenches with bad teeth disport themselves with locals is nothing new.

But there's still some charm to this story. Granted, our heroine Marietta Winter is a bit too good to be true, sacrificing her future for her worthless brothers. The hero, Gabriel Noble, has a tortured past and he's trying to overcome it by doing good deeds. When Marietta is referred to him in order to get help proving her brother Kenny innocent of the Middlesex Murders, she has nothing with which to bargain except her body. It's not entirely clear whether this is the reward that Gabriel actually wants for helping her, and he gets it soon enough anyway, but they end up working together to try to solve the mystery of the Middlesex Murderer's identity. As society believes even more firmly that Marietta's family are involved, and as Gabriel realises that the culprit might actually be someone close to him, they have to decide whether they can trust and believe in each other. So nothing new there then.

Those who like this kind of book will enjoy it. The historical detail is nice in places, inaccurate in others (particularly the dialogue) but, once again, that's common in this kind of book. However if you're looking for a read a little out of the ordinary, this isn't it.

i enjoyed the love scenes quite great but the story line for me just dragged on and on and i skimmed some bore to death of their forever ending questioning the situation i didnt enjoy the gore other i dont like that in a regency but love scenes were great even though hero went from super arrogant and self assured to unsure and slightly needy heroine went from ugly to gorgeous quite quickly???????
