A DARKNESS MORE THAN NIGHT:

Henry Pierce has just moved into a new apartment but the first time he checks his phone messages, he discovers that someone had the number before him. The messages are for a woman named Lilly, and Pierce is quickly drawn into Lilly's night-time world of escort services, websites, sex and secret identities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Connelly never fails to disappoint 21 Dec 2006
Format:Paperback
Michael Connelly returns to the world of LAPD detective Harry Bosch, with A Darkness More Than Night, although this time writing from the point of view of FBI agent Terry McAleb, as Bosch becomes a suspect in a series of killings. This is a dark and slightly more complex case which allows Connelly to show us another side of Harry Bosch.

The second book, City of Bones, is another disturbing story which begins with discovery of a child's body in the Hollywood Hills. This is a case which has a profound impact on Bosch and stirs up memories of his past which continue to haunt him.

Chasing The Dime sees Connelly departing from the Bosch series to write a stand-alone novel. After moving into a new apartment, Henry Pierce discovers that his phone number has been used before, drawing him into an intriguing world of escorts, prostitution and the darker side of the internet. Despite not being typical Connnelly, mainly due to the absence of Bosch, this is still a strong book....but fans of Bosch will no doubt await his return.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Connelly 1 July 2009
Format:Paperback
Three great Michael Conelly novels. "A Darkness More than Night" was the first Conelly novel I read, and it was a great introduction to my favorite crime writer.

You can buy this as a general introduction to Conelly's universe. Though, if you are looking for Harry Bosch, then buy the The Harry Bosch Novels: Volume 1: The Black Echo, The Black Ice, The Concrete Blonde: "The Black Echo", "The Black Ice", "The Concrete Blonde" instead.

Chasing the dime is not a Harry Bosch novel, though it was a real page-turner and a great read anyway. A real bargain.

I love Connelly, and this 3 novel set is great value. Connelly is certainly always on my wish list. His plots are beleivable, his characters are like friends and nothing is too gratuitous; either the violence or sex scenes. I particularly like the apparent fact that the author seems to actually like women; since he has many strong female characters; they are not just serial killer fodder, or cheap romance.
If you have never read any Connelly, these are a good intro' they stand alone.
