Rap metal has been around ever since 1986 when Run-DMC and Aerosmith joined forces for a remake of "Walk This Way", but it took nearly a decade for Rage Against the Machine to bust the floodgates wide open. Soon after, a stream of percussive hellraisers including Korn, Downset, and Deftones infiltrated the metal market, and they, in turn, sired a new breed fronted by acts like Snot and Limp Bizkit. Three Dollar Bill Y'All, Limp Bizkit's debut album, is a tempestuous collection of divergent styles. Unlike metal acts that try to get "dope", but lack the hip-hop background to legitimately fuse the two genres, Limp Bizkit--which features Wes Borland and House of Pain member DJ Lethal--have the know-how to groove and grind. And instead of launching a one-dimensional Blitzkrieg, Limp Bizkit mixes up its rhythms and tempos to keep its listeners guessing. --Jon Wiederhorn

I would give this album 6 stars if I could. This is definitely Limp Bizkit's best offering and it probably won't be beaten EVER. Go and buy this NOW. 3 Dollar bill is punk/thrash/metal/angst at it's greatest. Less smooth and refined than Significant other but much much greater in sheer energy and enthusiasm, this is the album that Limp Bizkit produced before they 'sold out' to MTV and Fred Durst's sometimes comical and ironic screaming and middle-class angst-ridden vocals have been lost in later albums. The most famous song from this album is Limp's cover of George Michael's 'Faith' but the stand-out track for me is definitly the opening track 'Pollution.' Look out for the high octane screams of 'Bring that beat back!!' half-way through the track and the extremely funny ending which sees Fred continuing to scream out his vocals after the band has finished playing, and eventually being told to 'shut the fuck up!!' It will have you doubled up with laughter. You will be amazed by this album, I have no idea why some reviewers gave this album 4 or even 3 stars, but they are clearly wrong. This album R.O.C.K.S

This album is great, from the Intro the the way it pulls into the heavy song Pollution straight after it like it is added in the same song.
Amazing album. The hardest Limp bizkit Album out there so if you hate Chocolate Starfish then buy this album.

Well, if you think you like Limp Bizkit, buy this. It will sort out the teeny boppers from the fans. When you hear this album, you wont ever want to listen to Chocolate Starfish ever again. I dont. This album has it all. Its a real musical effort from the whole band, with loads of great riffs from Wes Borland which proves that he does have talented which is used wastefully on Chocolate Starfish. The best two songs without a doubt are Pollution and Faith. Pollution is so heavy on the guitar and Fred Durst's singing (or screaming) is top-class. And the tune ends on a funny note, with Fred being told to "Shut the f*** up!" Its just a shame they dont tell him that now, when he spews his rubbish on Chocolate Starfish. The album is top class, if you dont buy this, them you're missing out on Limp at their finest!

Chocolate Starfish, and significant other are classics, But this takes the Bizkit. The best album by far with their best song on it.COUNTERFEIT is the highlight of the album closely followed by FAITH. If you like MY GENERATION and ROLLIN, buy this and you'll see what I mean.

The first time i had ever heard of Limp Bizkit was when they released 'Take A Look Around', and going on the strength of this i purchased 'Significant Other' shortly followed by 'Three Dollar Bill Yall'. When I first listened to it i didn't think much of it, but as i listened to over and over again, i realised that I had bought an absolutely amazing album. Songs such as 'pollution' and 'counterfeit' are so expresive, and 'faith' is a great song simply because it is a very significant song to the band. Wes Borland provides some fantastic guitar tunes, which are mixed with Fred Durst's amazing ability to convey his feelings strongly. I don't know why Fred is getting so much abuse from critics, because he is so talented and has managed to create a world class band in the space of three years after releasing this album. The best album in my collection up there with Rage Against The Machine's, 'Rage Against The Machine'

This is Limp Bizkits first album and it sold over a million albums in the states. After listening to it a few times, I am amazed it was not as recognised over here. To those of you who like stuff that rocks, as well as a bit of rap, this one's for you. Each song is heavy but also kind of mellow, you'll have to listen to it to see what I mean. For me this rivals their latest album "Significant Other". A standout song is "Faith", a cover of George Michaels song. Limp Bizkit have turned it into a superb thrash version that's 10 times as good as the original!! Overall a c.d. of high energy stuff taht will blow your mind, if Limp Bizkit don't make it big over here, I'm emigrating to the states!

it seems that limp bizkit are a band that can cause two friends to row as one will probably like them and the other will loathe them, they are a band that crept into the nu metal market and with the kind words from korn developed new fans and it took off from there, this is their debut and even the crappy title suggests that limp bizkit dont know whether they are rap or nu metal but its fair to say they are nu metal with plenty of rap thrown in,i suspect that when this was released fred durst was a man you would have liked, since they enjoyed major success he turned into an idiot to put it nicely and as i write this limp bizkit are no longer the force that they once were, but that is now and this review is about a 1997 debut album that is packed with treats and rocking numbers.

the album kicks off after the intro with the face melting pollution which kicks your teeth down your throat with the anger and fred dursts raps and rants and shouts with real intent, other crackers include nobody loves me,stalemate and clunk, its an album that is catchy while maintaining a heavy rock feel to it,the track that shines on this album isnt even written by limp bizkit, its a cover of george michaels faith and limp bizkit make the song their own and it truly is an inspired piece of work, you wont be ashamed to sing along to a george michael song once you hear this, let me assure you of that, this is an album that clocks in at just over a hour but it isnt boring, there are even nice interludes to break it all up a bit and let you rest before you start rocking again, the follow up was significant other and thats a classic but thats another review!
