CODENAME: CHANDLER

Time is running out for Chandler, the elite assassin whose mission to rescue her sister from a notorious black ops prison landed her at the top of the nation's Most Wanted list. Burned by her handlers and forced to work with her mortal enemy in a race to preserve the very government that wants her dead, the living weapon has become a ticking time bomb.

THREE

In saving her sister, Chandler unleashed a power-mad American president dead set on controlling the world--no matter how many millions of innocent people he must kill to do it. To stop him, Chandler will go deeper than she's ever gone before, pushing her body and mind to their absolute limits. All the while she is hunted by the one man who knows her every secret, her every hiding place--and her every weakness.

Infiltrating the White House, crashing a bullfight in Mexico City, hijacking a blimp in Toronto...these are just the beginning of the end, as the Codename: Chandler trilogy races towards its stunning conclusion.

Third in the series and I'm sure only a week and a bit has passed in narrative since the start of first book, but so what? This is the world of Chandler, suggest to the rational part of you to take a time-out and then the rest of you can just enjoy another excessive dose of destruction, high speed chases, murky conspiracies and characters with physical durability that exceeds that of an movie action hero.
This episode starts off with the three surviving sisters Chandler, Hammett and Fleming on the same side and being hunted for causing the then President of the USA to have his head blown off (no half-measures here). The shadowy and enigmatic Instructor is their protagonist, having unleashed another mentally unhinged team from the same black ops outfit. We also have a villainous new president introduced in the last book, snarling and vowing to bring in a new world order. And as a sub-plot Hammett and Chandler are snarking at each other over the ethics of killing one or thousands who has harmed who the most and who is the better sister to Fleming. Chandler has the edge on ethics but Hammett naturally has the better lines
The pace as in the previous books does not really let up and violence although almost cartoonish is portrayed with a stylish zest and verve that makes me suspect the authors enjoyed indulging in this book as much as the previous two outings.
This book is longer thus allowing space of extras such as the back story of Hammett's nightmarish childhood and a softer side to her character, also details of the circumstances which led to Fleming's disabling injury, a fleshing out of the team hunting them, and as is the practice the introduction of characters from works by the authors as individuals.

And so before you can say Triplets in a growly movie trailer type voice, here comes the third and final instalment in the "Codename Chandler " series. The three books in this preposterous but hugely entertaining series have been released with quite breathtaking haste ( George RR Martin could do with some of what the co-authors of these books are on ) , mirroring it would seem the high-octane action and amphetamine fuelled shenanigans of the plot.
Talking of the plot.. Chandler and her twin sisters , the psychopathic Hammett and the cripple Fleming are now the worlds most wanted after being put in the frame for assassinating the President . The former Vice President, now the main man , is plotting along with "The Instructor" in the global interests of the U.S.A. and have come up with a plan so irredeemably fiendish it would make Hussain , Gaddafi and Bin Laden virulent green with envy. The sisters , already exhausted and traumatised ( apart from Hammett who does not do traumatised ) must come up with a plan to foil their powerful enemies whilst fighting other elite members of the "Hydra" squad.
So it is pretty much business as usual for this trilogy. However the authors have fleshed out the final book to include the perspective of even more characters ,some from the less salubrious side of the equation and allowed more dialogue and character development. Consequently Three is an absolute door stop of a book running to 600 pages.
As ever Chandler is the only character who tells her side of things in the first person . Chapters are told from character viewpoints as with Flee and Spree. There are even back story sections expanding on certain character histories.

5.0 out of 5 stars The end for the battling sisters - or is it? 2 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this trilogy. Three picks up where Spree left off with the remaining three of the septuplets putting aside their differences and joining forces to defeat The Instructor who trained them as spies and assassins and the former Vice President of the United States who have a truly grisly plan for world domination. (Not the first book I've read recently where the VP needs watching!)
The whole book, like the previous two, is fast, violent, sometimes funny and at other times rather touching. Chandler, Fleming and Hammett are identical in all but character and distinguishable only, physically, as one of the other characters puts it, by their differing scars and contusions. though Chandler is not pleased to find that Hammett's bust size is larger than hers. They pick up a lot more injuries in this book but soldier on regardless, each to her agreed task and in her own fashion, to defeat the threat to humanity. It's a surprise to realise how short a time span these three books cover. It is told in mainly very short chapters, devoted to the viewpoint of a particular character, and for me this worked very well.
Other characters, including rival assassins, an eager lover, a living biological weapon, and two rather nice dogs add to the general mayhem and the sisters have much to contend with though they come eventually to value each other and build bridges - or do they?
The ending is left wide open and I doubt we have seen the last of the sisters. I hope not - Chandler. Fleming and Hammett are great value.
