Product Description

Both volumes of the BBC series where comedians Dara O'Briain, Rory McGrath, and Griff Rhys-Jones take to the water to humourously emulate Jerome K. Jerome's famous novel. In the first series, our intrepid voyagers navigate the river Thames between Kingston and Oxford, stopping off along the way to take in refreshments and visit friends like David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Series two finds the seasoned travellers casting off from the south coast en route to the Isle of Wight, aboard the relative luxury of Griff's 1950s racing yacht 'Undina', all the while trying to survive the hazardous perils of the English Channel.

Product Description

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital Stereo ), ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: 2-DVD Set, Anamorphic Widescreen, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: Three Men In A Boat: Dara O'Briain (Mock The Week, BBC TWO), Rory McGrath (They Think Its All Over, BBC ONE), Griff Rhys-Jones (Mountain, BBC ONE) and Loli the dog row a wooden skiff up the River Thames from Kingston to Oxford retracing the journey immortalized by the famous writer Jerome K Jerome in his classic 1889 book Three Men and A Boat. The three men take in the lush scenery and beautiful countryside whilst also managing to have some of their own adventures, including entering a boat race as they pass through a Regatta in the town of Wallingford, and even dropping in on Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. Three Men In Another Boat: With a new found taste for adventure the trio re-unites for Three Men In Another Boat, this time to sail Griff's 1950's yacht, The Undina. The voyage sees the inexperienced crew tackling many different nautical challenges including, negotiating waters around Tower Bridge in the heart of London, to very tentatively venturing into the busiest shipping lanes in the world at Dover. Along the way they try and sneak into the Isle of Wight festival to see the Rolling Stones and face a daunting final test - a vintage yacht race. ...Three Men in a Boat / Three Men in Another Boat - 2-DVD Set ( 3 Men in a Boat / 3 Men in Another Boat )

4.0 out of 5 stars Old-fashioned boating for fun 30 Jan 2009
We really enjoyed watching and re-watching the graceful meandering down the River Thames following Jerome K Jerome with comic bantering, and then the daring attempt of Griff Rys Jones to take two complete amateur crew members out of the Thames, around the Kent coast, and then for a race near the Isle of Wight!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it ! 31 Oct 2008
What's not to love..... being keen on sailing myself, I felt the pain of having to learn quickly but they never took themselves too seriously and it made for a beautifully enjoyable experience. Relax, open a bottle and watch; Dara O'Briain is particularly amusing....

Please Note as both have been on BBC 2 I base my review on that.

The BBC 2 version was in widescreen so I expect the dvd will be the same.

Running Time 4 hours approximately

Three Men in a Boat - 2 hours approximately

Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O'Briain, Rory McGrath and a nervous dog called Loli set out from Kingston to Oxford in a wooden skiff in an attempt to re-trace the journey up the Thames immortalised by Jerome K Jerome in his comedy classic Three Men in a Boat. Along the way they drop in unannounced on a couple of friends - Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Antony Worrall Thomson.

Three Men in Another Boat - 2 hours approximately

A follow-up to the 2006 remake of the Jerome K. Jerome classic. Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O'Briain and Rory McGrath have set their ambitions much higher than their previous chortle along the Thames. This time, they are sailing from Tower Bridge to the Isle of Wight in Griff's classic yacht.

Sit back and relax and let the World pass you by.
