Very comprehensive in terms of its history of bands - all the bands I can think of are included, and extremely well covered. It goes beyond the bands definitively called thrash, and covers a range of NWOBHM bands who were key influences on the early thrash scene.

One shortcoming I'd mention though - I was hoping for a narrative at the front; something that discussed the evolution of thrash metal. That wasn't here, so as it turns out, this is less of a "book" and more of a encyclopedia of thrash metal bands and and their incluences. I suppose this could be the author wanting to avoid the debate around questions such as that of who the first thrash metal band was, which is a shame - the author is someone with enough knowledge of the scene to make a good call in this area.

I'd recommend this to people who want to know a lot more about various bands in the thrash genre. If you're looking for a more general history, this isn't it.

This is just a list of Bands, the band-name followed by brief presentation of the group. Only purpose for this book according to me, is for someone like a journalist specialising in Thrash-Metal and with the need to be able to go back and check on main details of thrash-bands active before 2007.

For Collectors 21 Dec. 2007
By G. Lambert - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is supposed to be an update to the A-Z guide to Thrash Metal/Rock Detector series. If your a Thrash music collector then you are the target audience for this book. If your looking to read about Thrash Metal then skip this book. If you already own the A-Z guide then skip this book unless you want to get updated music lists for music produced by artists after that book was published. Killer cover pic! but whomever picked out that back cover photo must have been in that picture because it is pointless and is doesn't bring back any memories of the Thrash scene in the day.

No Mournblade? 6 July 2012
By Jeff H. Del Mastro - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Funny this book has a lot of stuff in it, but it doesn't have LA based Mournblade in it's pages , which was formed in 1987 in california. Old school trash metal , and it doesn't mention the LA metal scene from places like Fender's Ballroom or Madam Wong's. Shame.
