4.0 out of 5 stars It's Chicane and that's enough 23 April 2012
Format:MP3 Download
This new album is unmistakably Chicane. If you like Behind The Sun, Far From the Maddening Crowd and Giants then you'll like this one too. It's as if someone just flipped the 'on' switch and more Chicane started coming out; there's no astounding new sound or evolution, just the good stuff we've all listened to so many times. It's interesting how I used to get a euphoric, almost beatific feeling from listening to their tracks, now it's a nostalgic one. Anyway, enough about me, spend your money and don't look back!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good album! 8 Sep 2012

Although this is not their best album it's certainly not a bad one....in fact I really like it! I don't think you can compare it to the Chicane of old when they released far from the maddening crowds and behind the sun which were real Ibiza chill outs but I think they have evolved quite a bit since then and you can't keep producing the same thing. There last album Giants was really good although a little more pop or main stream but this latest offering is quite dreamy and chilled but not in the same way of old. I hope they can keep producing albums of similar quality as I shall keep buying if they do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs To Make You Dance and Smile 26 April 2012
By The Wolf TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
British dance producer Chicane's (aka Nicholas Bracegirdle) fifth
studio album 'Thousand Mile Stare' is a tasty box of treats. (His
1999 remix of Billie Ray Martin's 'Honey' pretty much always makes
an appearance on any holiday playlist I have compiled during the past
decade). This new collection of twelve tracks is heartwarming stuff.
The harmonic structure of his arrangements and impeccable sense of
what makes beats work is pretty much unimpeachable. It works on the
heart as much as it does on our imagination . It's uplifting material:
well-crafted, richly detailed and would work as well on a train journey
as it will doubtless do on dancefloors throughout the Shires and beyond.

There are some strong tunes here. Among the best are the lush, shuffling
summer strains of 'Playing Fields', featuring the dulcet tones of Kate
Walsh; full of sunshine and warm fellow-feeling; the delicious opening
number 'Hljop', a slow-burning anthem which harnesses the spirit of
Sigur Ros in Vigri's plaintive voccals; 'Going Deep', a composition
which, with its driving pulse, makes the blood pump faster in our veins
and 'Flotsam and Jetsum', which admirably demonstrates that "trance"
still has a valid place in the listening world. It made an old Wolf smile.

Highly Recommended.

Once again, Mr Bracegirdle fails to disappoint; an excellent album that, for me, is slightly more immediate on first listening than 'Giants'. Read more

Is it just my imagination, or does nearly every single track on this album sound like a remix of Hoppipolla?!
