Probably the best single volume ever printed on this subject. I bought the original edition 15 years ago. Divided into chapter headings for reels, jigs, morris dances etc. A few nice photographs as well.

What an excellent book of tunes. There are some really catchy tunes in here, and although I'm only grade 1 at the moment, I can play enough of them to develop my interest, and will tackle the harder ones as I get better. I wouldn't be without this book, I treat myself to playing a few tunes from it, intermittently with practising a few scales or bowing exercise pieces, and it keeps me interested. If there is any negative thing I could think of, it is that you may in time need a beefier music stand to hold it, if like mine yours is a bit weedy, but to me that's just testament to its awesomeness. Thoroughly recommended.

A brilliant and interesting collection of melodies that can also be played to great effect on recorder, flute and whistle too! Most in keys of D and G. No guitar chords, but would be easy to work out. Some tunes dating back to 13th century. Worth every penny. If I was allowed only one book for my recorder, this would be it.

I can only speak for tunes for fiddlers, since this seems what this book is most aimed at. These seem to be mostly tunes used in England (although naturally this also contains Irish Scottish and other tunes) and there are lots of them! Mostly in fiddle-friendly keys, so may need transposition for other instruments. Yes, you can find all these tunes on the web for nothing but it would take you weeks and be next to impossible to organise and categorise. Good for fiddlers, for anyone wanting a lot of music for intermediate grade sight reading, for people interested in folk music in general, well sorted and a bargain. And a good practical edition to boot.

This is wonderful. There is a huge selection of different types of tunes, from easy to difficult, which I am gradually going through with my concertina.
