Book Description

11 Oct 2012 Thoughtless 1
For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender, and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source - a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes ...and one thing's for sure - nothing will ever be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughts on Thoughtless 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book should come with a warning - believe me, it takes over your life! Thoughtless is the very definition of "un-put-downable" and I have hardly spoken to a soul all weekend. But everybody WILL interpret it differently due to the subject matter, so here's my experience:-

I thoroughly believe the first-person narrative is the genius of this novel. The emotions you go through with this character are completely surreal. To disagree with some other reviewers, I found Keira instantly loveable. Yes, it's hard to read in places - betrayal is never a comfortable subject, especially as some readers will have been on the receiving end of it at some point. My opinion is, however, that her situation and the feelings and thoughts that came with it, were portrayed perfectly. Of course the reader will be frustrated or irritated by the character's reactions at times... but I must say I identified with her wholly throughout - the lust, the desire, the guilt, the pain...

How do you know how you would handle it if you haven't been there? Everyone could say they would do things differently, but if everybody had the perfect solution, there would be no novel to write! I can honestly say the triangle in this book is very similar to a personal situation I was in a few years ago. The author, very admirably, brought back to me every emotion I went through at that time via Keira's own emotions...and she delivered it so beautifully and accurately, I would be very surprised if she is not speaking from experience. Love was never supposed to be easy.

Overall, do not expect a 'sweetness and light' fairytale in this novel - this is a true-to-life, straight-up heart-wrencher, especially if you can relate to it on a personal level. And, for the record, if you've read Beautiful Disaster and are expecting it to be comparable, it isn't! This is a glorious piece of writing in its own right, and it deserves to stand alone in all respects.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to love it - not sure I did 12 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So I have had this on my 'to be read' list for ages ... And I was ready to fall in love with a new fictional couple but I was left wanting more and to be honest I was a little disappointed. I even waited a month before writing this review in case I changed my mind.

Basically the female lead Kiera as been going out with her boyfriend Denny for a couple of years and follows him across the country when he gets a job after college. They move in with Denny's friend Kellan who is totally hot and plays in a band. Denny has to go away for work for a couple of months and fails to keep in touch as much as Kiera would like.. At the same time Kiera starts to fall for Kellan. The majority of the book then revolves around this love triangle.

The best part of this book is Kellan - he is everything you want your fictional boyfriend to be and Stephan' s has created a great character .... He is incredibly sweet to Kiera and I feel you could identify with he character and the dilemma he faces.

To be honest that is the only redeeming what is wrong with it?
1. Kiera the female lead is beyond irritating. I am not one of those people that normally cares too much about the female lead but she was just too much. I truly didn't understand what Denny or Kellan saw in her at all. She was so needy.... I mean to be in a relationship with her must be truly suffocating ... she was more like a child. She was scared to go to college by herself and used her boyfriend as a comfort blanket - I mean I am surprised she was able to leave the house with out someone holding her hand. I felt that when Denny left she was only drawn to Kellan cos she was lonely and was one of those girls that had to have a guy around.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! WOW! WOW! 2 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I finished reading this book today & thank goodness as my life came to a complete halt: I could not put it down! The beauty of the story utterly redeemed what I initially felt was a slow start. In a nutshell - OMG!!! I loved this book! My life is about to briefly be put on hold again as I have already downloaded the sequel. Kellan & Kiera I am on my way...!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a 50 shades type at all 28 Feb 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I think if this book hadn't been linked in with the 50 shades & Bared to you types it might have been OK, but since it has, I expected some kind of chemistry & sexual scenes. But it has neither, it isn't even romantic.
I couldn't finish it, even tho I skipped lots of pages at a time hoping it would draw me in, but it's so dull. Nothing happens. Basically it takes a quarter of the book for the character to cheat on her boyfriend (in which time they move house and get 'regular' jobs) with her flat mate (whom there have been no flirting or near encounters with ) and the rest of the book is about her feeling bad about it. It doesn't even go into detail about the one night stand they have. I got really bored at the overly descriptive writing and filling. It doesn't take half a page to describe a kitchen table! I don't like to leave a bad review, but I'm afraid this has a terrible plot, characters and writing style for me. The boyfriends weird random Aussie words thrown in puzzled me too. But hey, it's just my opinion!
