I bought this DVD for my brother, so he would have something different to watch on his portable DVD player rather than just Wallace and Gromit over and over again!

I have watched some of it myself. If anything, one has to compare it to the really recent Thomas. These Thomas stories are realistic, and very good. Today's episodes are not very well written. Any fan of Thomas on YouTube will tell you that.

Half of the episodes are adapted from stories by the Rev W. Awdry, and the others are written by producers Allcroft and Mitten. Many criticised the decision to do this initially, especially as there were plenty of other stories by the Rev and his son that could have been adapted instead.

But the producer written shows are actually really well written, and, to the amateur viewer, it would be hard to tell the difference.

Overall, if you're after classic examples of what Thomas was like when it was actually worth watching, this DVD is a must have. Very good indeed!

I bought Thomas the Tank Engine: Series 3 on DVD to replace my worn out VHS copies of Time For Trouble, Trust Thomas & Escape. But storyteller Michael Angelis has done the same thing that he did on the DVD of Thomas & Friends: Series 4 and re-narrated the first 13 stories on the DVD release, as he obviously wasn't satisfied that he'd done a good job on the VHS releases. There are 26 stories on this disc, but despite the obvious & noticeable re-dubbing from Mr Angelis, it's still worth buying! There are some good stories like Buzz Buzz, Escape & Oliver Owns Up, to name a few!

I love it because it got my favourite stories in it and my favourite story is a scarf for Percy.

We had a cry for help from our son in America - he wanted the proper 'Thomas' as he viewed on television in his childhood, for his son. He has no time for the 'Alec Baldwin and crowd' versions. This fitted the bill perfectly - though they are more expensive than the modern (but unlovely) versions.

Not as good as number 2, but still worth buying for little Thomas fans. You can get it cheap too.
