What were the casting company thinking of? Alec Baldwin as Mr Conductor? (Who?) He was so embarrassed in most scenes he couldn't even look into the camera. Who was the weird Scottish cousin, and more importantly, why? Did we really see Peter Fonda playing a grandfather - and as if within seconds he was about to swallow the pills, throw the noose, slit the wrists or - if all else failed - jump right under Diesel 10? No man has ever given such a depressed, never mind depressing, performance before, surely? He must have been kidding. Please.
This film has nothing to do with Thomas the Tank Engine, nor The Rev W Awdry. What a wasted opportunity for the kids. Oh but what a feast of hilarity for parents! Bunuel eat your heart out!
