Our oldest son (now 4) got this train about 2 1/2 years ago as a present. We still have it and it has now passed to our younger son (18 months). While we never invested in the additional track to make a proper set (only comes with two straight pieces) both sons have spent literally hours and hours and hours playing with this train. While it does understandably show some wear the tender remains firmly connected to the engine, all the wheels still function perfectly and I bet if we put batteries in the engine would likely run. It is a good size for little hands. Unlike some other plastic toys I've bought (Fisher Price toy fishing boat comes to mind) I am very pleased with this one.

This toy is flawless. I bought all 6 motorized talking trains and they are all working great. My 2 yr old has thrown these trains down a flight of stairs, dropped it numerous times in the street and it keeps going. I had it for about 4 months now and it's still going strong. The whistle sounds, phrases and movement are perfect. I've purchased the trackmaster tracks for these trains as well including the high bridge and when they are all running it's amazing. I have more fun with it than my 2 yr old. lol. I recommend to purchase rechargeable batteries for these which take 3 AAA. Highly recommend for your child.......or for yourself.

My boys love the Trackmaster Thomas and Friends. There is a slight problem with some of the bigger engines. This Gordon was a replacement. Gordon's battery is in his coal car with wires connecting to the engine in the engine. The wires were broken with just normal boy play. Other big engines have the same problem. But overall the boys still love to play with them!
