Format:DVD
Looking back two years when S13 broadcasted it not only was a big week for Milkshake, having The Fat Controller in the studio but all new animated adventures of Thomas and Friends, two years on all of series 13 have been released on six separate DVD's so far with either four or two episodes, now all of series 13 coming together for one full DVD has been worth waiting for, the third this month and until the release of this year's new film, what could be the last DVD's made that will be good value for money.
But i have my agreements not all S13 episodes were good, i particularly disliked Thomas and the Pigs and Time for a Story for reasons of writing, but that's the new series for you. :p
Episode lists are important to DVD's as they tell you what is included, in the days of when VCI/2Entertain released the DVD's at times they included small leaflets to tell what episodes were featured, maybe this is something HiT Entertainment needs to think about when releasing Thomas DVD's, i have plenty of other HiT DVD's with leaflets included.

What i am glad S13 and further seasons/specials are no longer including on UK DVD's was the Island of Sodor introduction, in fact, i don't even know if Ben Small recorded that opening sequence, only Martin T. Sherman did for US DVD's and US PBS Broadcasts.
For those who are simply fond of the animation and not fond of those Mr. Perkins or Down at the Station segments, this DVD is for you :)

Having watched clips from many of the episodes in this series on the Thomas web site with my son, I was looking forward to the release of this, the first fully CGI series, for a long time. Happily it didn't dissappoint, and looks even better on a large 40" flatscreen than it did on the small preview you could see on the home page.
The Ringo Starr originals were great when I was a child, but it is clear that this new technology superscedes the old models in every way. The characters are brought to life, and especially the 'people' characters such as the fat controller, drivers etc. are now excellently animated. Michael Angelis the narrator is a perfect fit with this new format.
In short, if you enjoy the clips on the Thomas web site, you will love this!
