Very disappointed 26 Jan 2012
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
this was bought for my son as a present (almost bought myself and glad i didn't), was pleased to recieve it but actually in practice was very disappointed by it. Firstly the numbers on the clock are pressed into the plastic and the same colour so it is actually very difficult to tell the time (or teach them to tell the time). There is no actual alarm which i was expecting (although i can see some may not want this), so the change in picture (or actually light on/off) is the only way of knowing whether it's time to get up. The worst part about it is that the light on/off time is set by a hand on the clock that the main hands pass over and once at the same point the light turns off (as some normal alarm clocks). The hand is not very accurate so while you may set it for 7am it may actually turn off at 6.40am but then it actually stays in that place for almost an hour in time. also means that when my son goes to bed at 7pm and i want to set the light to turn off at 7am (or even 6.45am) it means i can not actually turn the light on when he goes to bed as it is at the same point as the "alarm hand", meaning i have to turn it on when i go to bed which is pointless as my son doesn't get to see the light on anyway. He has not once responded to this clock and while he was very excited about using it in practice it has been absolutely useless and now just sits and looks nice in his room.

Don't bother 12 Jan 2012
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This clock is too bright when lit up with the night scene, twice the size you would expect and as the night scene shines through the day scene, when its time to get up the clock face actually goes dark! Not good in a dark room in the winter!
Also, as it is based on a standard clock the illuminated night scene turns off every time the clock hands pass over the set time. As most children sleep twelve hours, this means if your child goes to bed at 7 and you want them to get up at 7, you will have to go in and reset it after they've gone to bed. The only good feature of this clock is that the light and the clock have separate batteries.

Thomas Training Clock 13 Dec 2011
By Rod
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
the clock does seems to have encouraged our boys not to wake up (quite) so early. We sent the first clock back as it kept losing time but the replacement seems to be OK. It seems a little expensive for what it is.
