It's easy to see, in the rapidly changing and ultra fashionable world of music, why Al Jarreau may be overlooked by those who don't think "jazz" is their thang. But that would be a mistake. Jarreau is one of the finest singers of any era and this album should be part of any serious music collector's shelf. Spain, Distracted and Alonzo are, despite the rather luscious 80s production, three of the most wonderful, soaring examples of what moving music should be. Put your preconceptions to one side, listen and learn to love again.
