This is a look at the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (better known in the West as Transnistria, a breakaway republic of Moldova) through photos, interviews, and transcripts of broadcasts from Radio PMR, the short wave broadcaster based in the capital Tiraspol. The large page format of the book is put to good effect with half and whole page photos, which, quite frankly, you won't see anywhere else. Subjects covered range from politics and the civil war, to routine daily life, including the necessity for PMR citizens to carry three forms of ID: a Moldovan ID card, a Pridnestrovian passport (useless outside PMR), and a Russian passport (for actually travelling abroad). There are not many books about PMR/Transnistria, so this one does literally give a unique insight into this forgotten or unknown corner of Europe. The book is trilingual (German/English/Russian).
