I don't know if it's the 80s cover, the weird band name or the record label that makes this a relatively unknown recording, but one thing is for sure, it's no fault of the music. These tunes are FINE. Looking at the cover, you'd probably think this was either punk or something crazy like Mr. Bungle or Mighty John Henry, but it's not like that at all. This music is something very special. After my brother first played this album for me, I thought it could have been any one of a number of obscure bands from the 60s. It blew my mind when I found out this is from 1995. It has a special aura about it that only great albums have. It's seasoned just like an old favorite, but bubbling with the spices of 90s garage rock. Sometimes the music reminds of The Stones, at other times a little like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Cream often comes to mind as well. But no matter who they may remind me of, I'm sure they'll sound pleasing to you. These songs are just so inexplicably great. They're very catchy but not that poppy, and at times dark, but not overly dreary or dramatic. Everything is worked to perfection on This Is My Drug Hell. Like the other reviewers, I recommend this to everyone.
