I had never heard any of these tracks before i heard this album. What a pleasant surprise. Some great standards sung in Brook Benton's silky smooth tones. All tracks have the deep, rich sound of his original recordings with his typical lush string arrangements, and not a cheap inferior rerecording in sight. Thank goodness for Amazon's audio previews of certain tracks. You can certainly sort the wheat from the chaff. This album is a great buy for Brook Benton fans.

When I finally managed to get this album "This Is Brook Benton" I stayed up nearly all night listening to it! He gives each song so much feeling. In "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" listen to how he caresses the word "heart" in the line "then your fingers touched my silent 'heart' and taught it how to sing." His "Hawaiian Wedding Song" is the best I've ever heard. Every selection on this album is absolutely superb.

ONE OF HIS BEST 16 Dec. 2005
By Maddie - Published on Amazon.com

I finally managed to get this CD "This Is Brook Benton" and am completely satisfied and absolutely delighted with it. It certainly deserves five stars plus! Among the selections, Brook's "Hawaiian Wedding Song" is the best I've ever heard. And the same can be said for "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" and "The Second Time Around." Every song on this CD is a gem.

I cannot understand why A MUSIC FAN gave this CD, recorded in 1966 by RCA such a negative review! Perhaps that person has confused this RCA 9597-2 CD with another "This Is Brook Benton"
CD recorded in 1976 by PLATINUM and a very poorly made CD from it. This latter poorly made CD has music that's so loud it almost drowns out the vocals.

One of the great voices !!! 10 Mar. 2002

This is Brook Benton's smooth, classy vocal style with some of the great songs of all-time. Mr. Benton does a first class job with standards like "That Old Feeling", "Hey There" and just about every cut on the CD.
This is not the one to start your Brook Benton collection with (try "Endlessly, The Best Of Brook Benton)but if like his voice you'll love these interpretations......PS The arranger, Glenn Osser, did some fine work at Columbia with the likes of Jerry Vale and Johnny Mathis.
This is a high quality record !!

Excellent. If you like ballads this guy is very close in quality to Nat King Cole. I especially like his version of Try a Little Tenderness.

This is Brook Benton 3 Oct. 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I ordered this CD and was very dissappointed as it was not the original recordings of Brook Benton. It sounded like a remake at a later date by an older person, or an earlier release of his most popular songs by a different person. It was certainly not what I anticipated.
