Product Description

Synopsis

The 'drug culture' is now so pervasive that it is part of everyday news in the Western world. In this powerful and illuminating new series, we commission a team of journalists to analyse and comment on the major substances that are seen by society as addictive and ultimately bad for our health. Packed with technical information, quotes from experts and users, illustrations to show the effect they have on the body, as well as the symptoms and consequences - whatever the reason for your interest in drugs, these are the books to read.

And... 3 Oct 2003
Format:Paperback
If you wanted to inform yourself about heroin then there are no shortage of sources. It seems as if this book has summarised a few random ones from the Internet. Above all it failed to answer the question why people use it, preferring instead to concentrate on those dangers familiar to us from the anti-drug lectures in school. The one redeeming feature were the personal accounts from heroin addicts.

I just finished this book and I found it well written and very readable. I especially enjoyed the humour that was included to counterbalance the horrific subject matter. I have recently been offered this drug and, after a few drinks, had come very close to saying yes and trying it.I am happy to have now changed my mind and won't be experimenting. The 1st hand accounts are really well picked and highlight the perfect high that leads to a life changing downward spiral with perfect clarity. The statistic that a quarter of everyone who tries smack becomes addicted speaks for itself......

This is one of the best drug books I've read. Loads of informed stuff about H - all of it true. And I should know. Facts and figures, but also a lot of stories too.

wrong info about shannon hoon... 21 April 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book says that Shannon Hoon was 23 and died of a heroin overdose. That is incorrect. He was 28, and died of a cocaine overdose.

If you want to know about Horse then this book tells it all. Great stuff on the culture of candy, the celebs who use it, the dealers who sell it and the users who abuse it. Everything you ever wanted to know about H and more.
