Best known for her role in cult comedy TV hit, Benidorm and for playing Maggie Conlon in Ken Loach's remarkable film Ladybird Ladybird, Crissy Rock is a hugely popular actress and comedienne. But Crissy's path to success was far from easy and her life has been plagued by trauma and turmoil. Never has there been a more honest and disturbing biography ever written; never has there been so much to tell. Born and bred in the backstreets of Liverpool, Crissy Rock's poor but idyllic young life was plunged into darkness at the age of eight, when her grandfather began to abuse her both physically and sexually. Pregnant and married to a violent bully at sixteen it seemed that trouble and turmoil would always stalk her. Having finally escaped her violent marriage, Crissy began to turn her life around. Crissy tells of her first experiences as a performer when a friend bet her that she wouldn't enter a stand-up competition - she ended up being runner up in the north west region. Having firmly established herself on the comedy circuit she was then cast in Ladybird Ladybird for which she won Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival. From there, Crissy became a familiar face on television, landing roles in a host of popular programmes including Brazen Hussies, alongside Julie Walters.
About the Author
Crissy Rock's life has been one dogged by torment: childhood abuse, violent relationships, bankruptcy and homelessness. But something propelled this working-class girl from Liverpool to pick herself up and go on to win the award for Best Actress at The Berlin Film Festival for her lead role in Ken Loach's Ladybird Ladybird. Crissy is a comedienne, artist and an acclaimed actress. She currently stars as Janey in the ITV cult comedy Benidorm.

i received my crissy rock book,this heart within me burns,from bedlam to benidorm,on 16th march from my daughter for my birthday,as she knows i am big fan and friend of crissys.i started reading it 8 30 that night and finished it 1 30am, just could not put it down.it was absolutely brilliant.crissy has had so much heartache but she has still come out a very special lady.love her to bits and wish her all the best for the future.a book that must be read,makes you cry and laugh all at same time.

i'm not into reading to be honest but having seen crissy on the programme "this morning", i said to my husband that i'd love to read her book, mainly because of the interview but also because we have seen her so many times in benidorm as a stand up (amazing show).
my hubby very kindly bought it for me and since he brought it in for me, i just couldn't put it down, as i'm a slow reader it took me the full weekend to read it, what an amazing read, what inspiration she is to man, woman and child! every human being should read this book, not just because of crissy's tormented life but because of how she proved that she did have a life to live that was worth living!!!... thanks crissy, your an amazing woman xx

i received my book an read it the same day, unbelievable book, wud recommend it 2 every1 (which i have) my family grew up knowin crissy as we lived around croxdale road and after reading the book has becum an inspiration i cant believe wot she has been through an still manages to laugh, well done crissy on a fantastic book xx
