I've been buying Benrik's 'This Diary Will Change Your Life' for the last three years, and this is the best yet: stunning design and laugh-out-loud funny ideas of things to do every week in 2008 to shake your life up a bit. My favourite task is 'This week, freelance as a traffic warden' (with handy cut-out-and-keep freelance parking tickets -- you take 10% of the fine!) Genius

Even though you're only supposed to go through this book/diary one week at a time, I read the whole thing in one go. So I cheated, sue me, but: it's full of insane (and very funny) ideas as to how you might spend 2008, which involve annoying pretty much everyone from the dalai lama to Osama Bin Laden. Judging from the section about their regular readers at the back and what they get up to, some people take it a little too seriously, but even if you just dip into it now and again, it should cheer you up no end, if not actually "change your life".

A source for a good laugh

Don't take this too seriously
It's meant to be entertaining and it's certainly outrageous in places. I had fun reading through the weekly tasks but I don't think I'll be following their experiment. Read more
