After Mick Jones was fired from the Clash in 1983, he formed Big Audio Dynamite (B.A.D.) one year later to continue the more experimental funk elements of the Clash's Combat Rock. The group's original incarnation included Jones, video artist and Clash associate Don Letts (effects and vocals), Greg Roberts (drums), Dan Donovan (keyboards), and Leo "E-Zee Kill"… Read more in Amazon's Big Audio Dynamite Store

5.0 out of 5 stars An all-time favourite, 25 Jun 2001

I have just bought this on CD after wearing out my old vynal version. One of the greatest albums of the '80s, but still sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. They do not get any better than E-MC2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rap'n'rock'n'punk'n'reggae, 23 Nov 2000
By A Customer
The Clash merged punk and reggae - when Mick Jones (and Don Letts) headed off to BAD they took the whole lot and merged it with the rap/hip hop that was exploding at the time. The excitement and energy of "This is BAD" is a reminder of the past and a promise for the future - original music that still remembers the key elements of guitar, rhythm and FUN. E=MC2 and Medicine Show were hits, but there's plenty of good stuff on here - and once you've heard it, you'll be ready to go back to London Calling, or forward to 10 Upping Street or Megatop Phoenix, to name just a few

5.0 out of 5 stars STEVIE DUB HIGHLY RECOMENDS!!, 27 Jan 2005

Mr. S. Spoors "STEVIE DUB" (SUNDERLAND,ENGLAND.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The first and best of B.A.D's brand of cosmopolitan HIP HOP.A forerunner of ACIDHOUSE and BAGGY theres not one duff track on this album.Along with NEW ORDER and even the PET SHOP BOYS,B.A.D are a mid eighties link between DISCO and HOUSE,the classic 'crossover' band they incorporated everything from RAGGA to RAP,PUNK with COUNTRY (THE EXCELLENT 'MEDICINE SHOW),FUNK and FILM SCORES.Although overshadowed by THE CLASH I feel MICK JONES lesser known ensemble are just as worthy of attention,he may have had his critics but the one thing you can say about him is at least he was never afraid to try new things with his music, hes never been stuck in that 77 timezone.Buy it.
