5.0 out of 5 stars another opportunity to stop and think..., 12 Mar 2009

A great opportunity in this hectic, non-stop world to slow down and read a book that gives me the chance to mull over things of true importance. Money and jobs may come and go but we all need to take the time to spend time with ourselves and what is really lasting. Faith, commitment, prayer, overcoming adversity, learning how to face life with our heads held high. A great read. For all those who find the view from the treadmill bland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating book, 19 Sep 2006

which is well worth reading, especially as it is available free at www.plough.com/ebooks/pdfs/ThirdTestament.pdf (you don't want to wait 4-6 weeks do you?)

There are a few minor problems with some of the accounts. There seem to be several inaccuracies in the Pascal chapter and the Kierkegaard chapter is okay but shows its age. I am also suspicious of some of the details in the Augustine chapter. As a result I wouldn't exactly trust the book for information about any of them, but then that's not the point of the book.

The writing is excellent and you will have no trouble reading it even if you know nothing about any of the figures.
