One of Duncan's best 24 July 1999

The Third Eye is a book about a girl who discovers she has the gift to see missing children. Its a gift she tries not to use, but a cop forces her too and eventually leads her on a wild-goose chase for a group of missing kids. One of my favorite books written by Lois Duncan, Karen is a very likable character and I liked the little surprise at the end.

I am a big fan of Lois Duncan, and I've been reading her books for years. I've read them all, but this is my personal favorite! It has a really good plot, and what a creative thing to write about--The Third Eye!!! I love Lois Duncan's skillful writing with edge-of-your-seat mystery and suspense. I'm always so intrigued by the psychic abilities and other powers in her books, too. It's fun to think about FICTIONALLY. Also, the character growth in this book was very well done, and the ending lines were GREAT! The words were SO amazingly beautiful that I went back and read them about fifty times (I own a copy of this book myself). Lois Duncan's endings are always the best. I love the way Lois Duncan used that little girl (Karen's future daughter) to help Karen, the main character, when she was in danger in the apartment scene and to tell Karen who will be her child's father at the end. That was so creative, and you really understood it from an interesting point of view. It was neat how Karen ended up with the sweet cop, Ron. I especially like the characters in THIS book, and I thought that Karen (so cunning) and Ron (so understanding to Karen's ability) were a good team all along! =) Plus, I'm from Colorado Springs, CO so that helps. I strongly recommend this book!!!! Reading it, "something cold will touch your spine--the chilly finger of fear!" (<--a quote from the car scene with "Betty" on page 116 of my copy of the book), while the ending with leave you so happy for Karen. ~Brenda~

I thought it was going to be about the first baby sitting job at the zenners. Then it got better when she graduated high school. I new the mom was up to something when she was talking about how she wanted Karen to live a life of so called 'popularity'. If he dad did not belive in that kind of stuff and Ann Summers said it was a trait that had to be inharited from your parents, I it was the mom. At the end of the book I thought Ron and Karen should of got married. They had a hole lot of faith in each other and love.
