Book Description

1 May 2012
'Thinking Inside The Box' is the sensational, thought-provoking book by France and Tottenham Hotspur football star Louis Saha. Published in France to widespread acclaim, it gives a unique, footballer's-eye view of life as a Premier League striker - from the glory, the riches and the fast cars to the pressure to win, the agonising injuries and the women who will do anything to bed a footballer!
Saha writes with great insight and humour, drawing on his own experiences - from his childhood in the notorious outer suburbs of Paris to starring for Manchester United in the Premier League and reaching the World Cup with France - and tackles heavyweight issues like racism, inflated player wages and media intrusion head-on.
Packed with insights, anecdotes and perceptive personal reflections, the book also contains the fascinating thoughts of numerous giants of the game who have granted Saha exclusive and incredibly revealing interviews - including a remarkable one to one with Sir Alex Ferguson and quotes from the likes of Zinédine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Phil Neville and many more. There is even a chapter written by Saha's wife, Aurélie, on life as a footballer's wife.
'Thinking Inside The Box' is a truly unique and exceptional football book.
Translated by Georgia De Chamberet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thinking inside the box - by Louis Saha 9 May 2012
Format:Hardcover
This is the best Football book ive read to date. Louis Saha takes you on the journey from his Youth Football days growing up in France right through to his time now at Spurs. He talks openly of his experiances of the World Cup and Champions league gives insight of what managers like Alex Ferguson expect from a player day in day out.
Saha also talks bout how much a Footballer needs their family with a chapter with the views from his wife.
Nice comments from other top players such as Zidane,Henry and Patrice Evra.
The book is written with great intelligence and is a must for any Footy fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing. 15 May 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm only half-way through the book so far, but not feeling the love for it. I'd hoped for great things after reading a review in a sunday paper, and usually find footy books reasonably interesting and easy to read. I'd assumed Louis Saha's book would take it to the next level, but have been proved wrong. I think Louis, or the publishers, think this is a more intelligent book than it actually is. First off, there is no chronology, and the chapters themselves jump about all over the place so you're not quite sure what point Louis is trying to make. Also, and for me this is the worst part, the book is littered with lol's. I'm trying to read a book, not someone's text message. At one point, three consecutive paragraphs end with "Lol!". That might appeal to some, but i'm afraid not to the miserable old git that I am.

On the plus side, there is SOME interesting stuff, and the odd fascinating insight. Louis Saha seems to be a genuinely decent guy, too. But I found Paolo Di Canio's book a far better read for a footy fan.
