After running her own design company in the eighties, Maggi spent over 20 years writing, leading, validating and lecturing in Higher Education on Degree and MA courses. Her role in fashion 'Haute Couture' and design 'Textile Craft' courses and Applied Arts Research culminated in a doctorate, for which this book was a practice-based element. The author lives in Cockermouth, Cumbria with Phil (Tango and Life Partner) and Kitty (daughter and muse for the Be Remarkable books), Ollie the black cat and a collection of hats.

This is a story of strength and resilience, whilst being heartbreakingly sad. The beautiful images add an extra depth to the emotions it reveals. I particularly loved "Innisfree" and it's associations with the sea and the West Cumbrian caostline. It is partially written in an epistolary style via a series of "reflective journal quotes", which draw the reader into the psyche of the author, you feel her pain through these quotes, which are reinforced by beautiful and meaningful works of art. Each time I pick it up I discover something new, so I can't just put it on the shelf and forget about it. Please read it, it's beautifully poignant and evocative.
