Product Description

Synopsis

A supernatural mystery based on the Clydebank Blitz and written for 9 - 12 year old readers. Pete's whole family has suddenly and unexpectedly moved from London to Scotland and in their new house he hears unexplained voices. He meets new friends in the abandoned air raid shelter in the back garden but gradually realises that all is not as it seems. Something very strange happens and through a series of supernatural events he gains real experience of the panic, tragedy and loss of the 1941 Blitz. Finally, a mystery of more than fifty years is solved by his courage and resourcefulness. The story is told with realism, poignancy and humour and Catherine Forde, in this her first novel, shows a great capacity for following and understanding the emotions and thoughts of young minds.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, non-patronising book with an interesting twist., 6 Sep 2001
By A Customer
How refreshing to find a children's book, that adults will also enjoy. It is a well researched book having all the elements children love: humour, 'ghosts' - but not frightening ones - adventure and a clever, very unexpected twist-in-the-tail that certainly leaves the reader wondering! It is good from a Scottish teacher's point of view that it is set in Scotland, telling of the Clydebank Blitz, but also having as its hero a young boy of English and Scottish parents. The hero, like any child, is upset at having been removed from his friends in London. This is an altogether 'great read' loved by my ten year old son; one of my 15 year old pupils and me.

think me back is a fictional yet believable novel with realistic characters who you can relate to.from noisy babies to accident prone little brothers think me back has it all.allthough very funny in places think me back tells of the WW2 tragedy of the clyde bank blitz where 1,000 people died in only 2 nights of bombing.the book is very easy to read and definetly worth the price.
