10 Fun Things to do With Your Microwave...
Sort of implied to me that the microwave still be alive, but two of this set of activities require defunct microwaves, as the microwaves are dismantled. In one case, for the pure joy of having taken a microwave apart; in the other in order to build an arc welder (this is quite a detailed project and takes up much of the file). Three of the other exercises aren't precisely sensible - there's one that's a look at what certain things will do in a microwave (including blowing up), one that involves testing hot spots in melting chocolate in order calculate the speed of light, and one that involves microwaving CDs. Nuff said on that one! After that, there are a couple of making things recipes - one for shell candles, and one for dyeing wool with Kool Aid; and three cookery recipes - peanut brittle (as a chemistry experiment), a 5-minute chocolate cake made in a mug, and a microwave birthday cake.
The things included vary from the OK to the ridiculous. Some have a strongly scientific slant (the arc welder is far too much physics for an English grad!), others provide domestically manageable amounts of science, and some are just about cookery (they could be treated as science, too - but really aren't written that way). Two out of three of the cookery recipes give measurements only in US cups - though the birthday cake includes metric measurements.
There are lots of photos (many of these are grainy and hard to see, particularly those with close ups on microwave contents) and video links, so this file doesn't lend itself best to Kindle reading, unless perhaps you're using one of the apps.
