One of the most entertaining small books on the market!, 1 Jan 2004
Gentlemen, on which occasions should you wear ties with vertical stripes? Hawaiian shirts? Or snakeskin shoes? Unsure? Read on... First, let's make an important point: don't take this book too seriously. Truthfully, it does contain some wonderful nuggets of advice (some of which, including "no level of fitness - or, for that matter, drunkenness - justifies wearing a tank top at home" will have you nodding and laughing in agreement), but its design reminds me of one of those books of famous quotations you read for a private chuckle whilst attending to more important matters in the house's smallest room. All that said, this could be the best nine quid you've ever spent if you're unsure of what to pack for a two-day business trip, or the age at which wearing a fedora becomes acceptable. Incidentally, the answer to all three of the questions at the top of this review: "never". Award yourself a cheap bottle of aftershave for each one you got wrong.

Small work of comic genius, 10 Mar 2002
This book tells you some things about style. Don't buy this book because of these things, buy this book because it is a small work of comic genius. It really is that funny. As regards sartorial matters, it'll make you feel pathetic, scruffy and inadequate. But you won't mind. Though if you buy this book because you want some genuine guidance on dressing well for an impending job interview, you probably will mind.

This review is from: Things a Man Should Know About Style (Mass Market Paperback)
If you're as clueless as I am in the style-department, this book is probably the best way to learn what you've been doing wrong and how to remedy it. The humour makes the advice memorable. The advice makes the book invaluable.
