3.0 out of 5 stars Useful but not life changing 22 Jan. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have suffered from back pain on and off for around ten years and have had treatment from a physio. I came across a recommendation for this book in a national newspaper which claimed the book had lots of great lifestyle advise that would transform my situation. Always one to fall for the hard sell I bought this book but did not find the advise as useful as I expected. Advise such as take a pain killer and go and see your GP are a bit basic to say the least. I think the book would be more useful for someone who is suffering back pain for the very first time and does not know what to do at all. There is a lot of emphasis on positive thinking and relaxation and whereas stress can make symptoms worse it is a bit much to see this as a total remedy. The parts of the book I did find of use were the suggestions on exercising although it did not go far enough with either suggested exercise or further information. The book does have some useful basic information but each subject is treated with insufficient detail. Certainly not life changing. Of late my back has become a lot better by doing swiss ball exercises as recommended by my physio - seems the professionals do have something to offer!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of the many causes for back pain 12 April 2015
By Mario Streger - Published on
That book is exactly what I was looking for: a quick, short and comprehensive introduction to the causes and treatment of back pain. As I am experiencing some pain just lately, I never read anything about the subject, and this book had exactly the basic information I was looking for.
