The Masters Mastered
101 Things You May Not Have Known About The US Masters by John White may only be an e-book but it is so much more weighty than that. All I can recall from watching the Masters live and seeing previous tournaments on DVD are all written about in this book. Memorable events such as (i) In 1964, Arnold Palmer became the first man to win four green jackets: 1958, 1960, 1962 & 1964. (ii) Jack Nicklaus is the only man to pull on the green jacket after winning the US Masters in three different decades: 1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975 & 1986. (iii) The longest period an American has gone without pulling on the winners' green jacket at the US Masters is five years with Scotland's Sandy Lyle the winner in 1988, England's Nick Faldo winner in 1989 & 1990 and Ian Woosnam from Wales the winner in 1991. Larry Mize (USA) was the winner in 1987 with Fred Couples (USA) claiming victory in 1992. (iv) In 2003, Mike Weir set two US Masters records. He was the first Canadian to win a green jacket (he was also the first Canadian golfer to win any of the four Major Championships) and he was also the first left-handed player to win the US Masters. This is an absorbing e-book containing some really fascinating and occasionally unbelievable trivia from the most absorbing of all the golf Majors. Excellent value for the price on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MASTER'S MASTERPIECE 15 Jun 2012
By ...
On five occasions the winner of the US Masters has been decided by an 18-hole play-off. The first occasion was in 1942 when Byron Nelson defeated fellow American Ben Hogan 69-70. The other occasions were: 1954, 1962, 1966 & 1970. Australia's Bruce Crampton (1974) and the USA's Dustin Johnson (2009) and Tiger Woods (2010), hold the record for scoring the most number of eagles at a single US Masters with 4. In 2001, the total prize money on offer for the winner of the US Masters reached the $1 million figure for the first time. The tournament was won by Tiger who collected a winners' cheque for $1,080,000.00. In 1966, Jack Nicklaus became the first player to successfully defend the US Masters. Only two other men have achieved this feat: Nick Faldo, winner in 1989 & 1990 and Tiger Woods, winner in 2001 & 2002. I am sure John White will excuse me for selecting just 4 of his wonderfully researched 101 entries he has in this little masterpiece of a book. Every now and then you come across a book which you just have to tell all of your friends about and this is one of those books. A masterfully compiled book by an author who himself is a Masters Champion, no not a green jacket Master but a Master of sports trivia books. If you like this book then I can recommend the following titles also to download from Amazon: 101 Things You May Not Have Known About Baseball, 101 Things You May Not Have Known About The New York Yankees, 101 Things You May Not Have Known About The Boston Red Sox, 101 Things You May Not Have Known About Snooker and if you like your books in a paper format then you simply must buy yourself a copy of White's magnificent Golf Miscellany.
