Product Description

Templar returns! The bestselling author of the internationally acclaimed, million-selling Rules books is back with this, the second of a brand new series of handy guides to life.

How to Get Things Done without Trying too Hard  is the wise and witty antidote to procrastination, the definitive manual for getting more done and the best and simplest guide to finding time to do all those little things you know you need to do, but usually can’t be bothered to.

We all know how easy it can be to put things off until tomorrow and we tell ourselves we just don’t have time to do things straight away. But tomorrow never comes and slowly but surely all those little tasks and jobs you’ve been putting off all build up into a huge mountain to climb.

In a busy world where being time-poor is a popular complaint, it can be easy to convince ourselves that organising our CD collection or clearing out the garage, cleaning the oven, or shampooing the carpet is just not a good use of time and there are better, usually more exciting, things we could be doing. Time, it seems, is the one thing we always wish we had more of, but when we’ve got it, on the whole we use it badly.

With his inimitable blend of originality, wisdom, common sense and straight talking, Richard Templar will take you through 100 clever, cunningly simple and pain-free ways to help you get more things done and dusted with the minimum of time and effort.

Before you know it you’ll be ticking things off your to-do list at record speed and feeling more organised, more in control and more able to enjoy that precious free time without the nagging feeling that you’ve still got things to do.

Useless book 4 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
I found this book really disappointing. The title 'How to get things done without trying too hard' was so promising but unfortunately it failed to deliver. Over half the pages are used entirely just for the title pages and I got the feeling that Richard Templar was trying his best to waffle and stretch what could really be condensed into a few pages (if that). A lot of the book is spent talking about why you should become more organised and how this book will help you to become more organised but didn't seem to go anywhere. I continued to read it hoping that I would gain at least one tip but it just mentioned the most basic and obvious ideas that most people already do e.g-keep an organiser with a list of family and friends birthdays, keep a shopping list....

If you really want to get things done without trying too hard, I wish you well, this book does not hold the answer.

A little obvious 8 Nov 2009
By Terich
Format:Paperback
Typical Templar-style, good snippets of advice, however, somewhat less exciting and inspiring than his first few titles. It's perhaps too obvious sometimes what he is trying to say on a page or two (mind you, in large font and drawn out with extra boxes on the page etc.) and the style becomes somewhat too familiar - almost patronising at times.
However, good reminders, easy to digest and remember. And that's in the end what you want to have with books like this: to be able to apply their advice!

This book is very easy to read, I feel very disorganised, so didn't want something I felt I had to spend loads of time reading before putting in to action a new routine. It highlights common problems and you feel yourself saying "oh yes I do that and I want to stop that habit". It contains some very obvious solutions, such as writing lists. I have found some of the content very helpful, but sometimes a little too short in content. Offers practical and common sense advice to get life back in order. Its is easy to pick a relevant subject to look at, as the titles are easy to find so you don't have to read the book in order, you can look up the most relevant thing you want to sort and change.
