The good 'ole days 1 Dec 2008
Format:Hardcover
Very enjoyable book, easy to pick up during your lunch breaks, allowing you to look at the 70's in rose tinted glasses. As someone born in '69 I could relate to most of the things in the book, but I do wish that they included Photos. This would have made a good book, fantastic.

From clothing, technology and crisps(he forgot to mention hedgehog flavour) its an enjoyable read for people in their 30s/40s. Now where is my Old Spice and Flares.

Great read! 24 Nov 2008
Format:Hardcover
A great trip down memory lane for those who remember the 1970s and 1980s. But also a great read for all who are interested in nostalgia. Philip Glenister shares his memories with us, and they will make you smile. You wouldn't think that things have changed that much since the 70s, but they have! A few photographs of some of the items mentioned would have been of interest, but a great book non the less. The perfect book to own.

This book is very funny. Had me laughing out loud. Mr. G. has a great turn of phrase, and had a great memory. Makes you think Oh Yeah I remember that. Highly Recommended. Even the dedication is very amusing.
Well Done MR.G.

Okay but not great
Obviously written by committee with Phillip Glenisters name appended. Short 2 to 3 page chapters throughout, some amusing pieces but not hysterical.

Things Ain't What they used to be
It was a well written nostalgic trip comparing yesteryear with todays living. I thought it was great for genre that it represents.

Some things are lost in translation...
I remember the 70s well ... from an American point of view. Each "chapter" of this book contrasts a person, place, or thing from the 70s with their contemporary equivalent. Read more

The best laugh I've had in many years
Not since Erma Bombeck (that dates me!!) have I laughed so hard while reading a book. It took me longer than usual because I had to keep stopping to wipe away tears of laughter. Read more
