Synopsis
Irish hard rockers Thin Lizzy enjoyed a critical and popular success throughout the late 1970's and 1980's; an interesting fact when one considers that these were the very years that the anarchist punk of bands like the Sex Pistols were changing the face of rock and roll. Perfecting a brand of masculine, hard rock rebellion, Thin Lizzy managed to top the U.K. charts time and again. This programme captures the group in concert in 1981 performing a selection of their best known songs.

Think twice on this one, i wish i had but being a lizzy fan and waiting for so long for anything on dvd to come along, i succumbed. Anyway the audio is appalling the picture even worse, its like watching through an earthquake with all the ripples on the screen. I can only imagine that German remastering is not up to the rest of the worlds technology which is a bit odd dont you think!!!!!!! im going to sell mine.

I am a big thin lizzy fan, but i have to admit this is terrible. The sound quality is poor and the shots are even worst. There are constant lines going down the screen distorting the picture. Phil lynott is not on form here. I like him becaus eof his enthusiasm and energetic performances. Dont expect any of this if you buy this. Even the booklet tries to make excuses for him, and gives excuses why the quality is so poor. When the company trying to sell the product makes excuses for it you know its bad. A huge dissapointment but i managed to get my money back claiming it was an unwanted christmas present.

This does not feature one of Lizzy's best line-ups. Snowy White always looked a tad reserved alongside the charasmatic Lynott and the energetic Gorham. Live and Dangerous was a formidable benchmark for any band to have to recreate and they sometimes struggled to achieve it. The good news is that this rare filmed performance has the band in top form on the 'Chinatown' tour. All the favourites are here for the casual fan, 'Boy's are back in town', 'Jailbreak', 'Don't believe a word' and some rarely performed tracks 'Trouble boys' and 'Memory pain' for the die hard. The band to appear to be enjoying themselves and it reflects in the performance. White's playing being blusier than some of the previous stage right guitarists but perfectly complimenting all the same. A great show to watch and a fitting example of a fine band.
