Product Description

Book Description

Jim Hightower takes on the Kleptocrats, Wobblycrats and Bushites with hilarious results. Digging up behind-the-scenes dirt on stories the corporate news media overlook, Hightower reveals the truth behind BushCo's "Friday Night Massacres", what's happened to our food, and the Bush plan for empire. With grassroots solutions, Hightower taps into the activist network that is thriving behind closed doors. This is the real America that the rest of the world doesn't get to see, delivered with Hightower's own hilarious brand of wit and outrage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 11 Sep 2003
Jim Hightower shows republicans and democrats for what they really are - corporate puppets! His description of how "BushCo" has corporatized the white house, destroyed our environmental regulations, and convinced the nation that dissenting is unpatriotic (how ironic, in America) is essential reading for all true freedom-lovers. Hightower maintains a positive outlook, citing examples of common people rebelling against the greed. Somehow hilarious and infuriating, this is a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thieves In High Places - Fantastic!, 24 Jun 2011
This review is from: Thieves in High Places: They've Stolen Our Country and it's Time to Take it Back (Mass Market Paperback)
The most serious and simultaneously most funny book i have ever read. Jim Hightower is an economist, researcher, comedian and fellow human being who cares all rolled into one. This book should be compulsory reading for all because it covers highly relevant information that affects us all, yet is perpetually avoided by major media channels. Read, enjoy!

Hightower has the balls to show republicans and democrats for what they truely are - a bunch of corporate puppets! His description of how "BushCo" has stomped all over the 1st and 4th amendments, destroyed our environmental regulations and tricked the country into calling dissenters unpatriotic (how ironic, in America) is essential reading for true freedom-lovers. Somehow, Hightower remains optimistic and offers signs of sanity throughout the madness.
