Product Description

Product Description

This guide fuses the wisdom of the East and West, and explores how ancient Asian battle strategies and cultural mindsets can be applied today to achieve mental toughness and winning business techniques. Drawn from a formula for mental toughness devised in a 1911 handbook for success called "Thick Black Theory" (which has been banned in China ever since), this book argues that there can be no real enlightenment without a full awareness of the dark side. To achieve success in professional and personal lives, one must "thicken" one's face to create a shield that perserves natural self-esteem, and "blacken" one's heart. The result is a definition of the successful modern business hero as a person of unceasing contemplation and unfettered action. The utilization of the power of this book allows each reader to discover the destiny to which one must be true. Going beyond Sun Tzu's "Art of War", this book shows readers how to: find the inner warrior, and conquer all in one's path; claim one's natural right to dazzling wealth; apply deception without sin to win the deal one wants; dare to succeed by cultivating the courage to fail; use the art of deception without compromising values to win the deal one wants; unchain a killer instinct in the service of a life-affirming cause; and transform negative qualities to one's advantage. Chin-Ning Chu is the author of "The Asian Mind Game".

4.0 out of 5 stars Important Lessons, 20 Feb 2008
By M. J. A. Pasha "Mohammad Pasha" (bolton , england) - See all my reviews

I found the first seventy or so pages a bit hard to read. I kept on thinking to myself when is this book going to get going. It was grindingly difficult to read; as I read on however I started relearning some things which I sort of knew but also some things which were new to me. The author gave some nice examples and put my thoughts into pictures. I had flashbacks whilst reading in my own life of being backed into a corner and forced to make a bad decision, but the author emphasises how important it is at those times to use the thick face black heart strategy.
I feel there are some good strategies to learn in this book. Even if you only learn one thing in a book it is worth the money paid for it, in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everybody reads one book that changes their outlook on life, 10 April 2001

This was it for me. Chin-Ning Chu pulls no punches in her profound analysis of the real human inside us - that unencumbered by the preconceptions and inhibitions bred from birth. I am not religious, not of any extreme socio-political bent, and as skeptical about so called 'self help' books as the next educated professional; but this book caught me by surprise. It will change the rules you live by, change the way you approach every situation and revitalise you. Five stars are not enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very powerful life enhancing book.., 27 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Unlike most 'self help' books, thick face black heart doesn't try to change who U are. There are no golden rules and no typical person. To be a thick face black heart practitioner U just have to tap into one thing: human nature. This is a book U would read more than once and keep refering to with different phases of your life.
