Picked this up when it was free in Kindle store and not sure that I'd have paid the full price of over £7 for this to chance an unknown author. However, this is a good story from the perspective of Libby to start with and then a smaller part from her husband's perpsective. Ok, so it's not big on thriller, mystery or suspense -basically Libby takes her friend father in law to the Canadian wilderness to try and find her husband who hasn't returned from a trip alone there. The twists are in how and why her husband went there and in what happened to him while there. Is it all 100% believable? You decide.
I enjoyed the story and would look at something by this author again. Yes, there are faith references throughout but they are part of the story and of the characters more than anything else.

This author leads their reader on a fascinating journey right from the first page.
Really it is two journeys, the one that takes you right across the world into very remote and beautiful places in the Canadian wilderness, but also the inner journey of finding out what is really important to the people involved. The reader is taken into the confidence of both main characters and is able to follow the story line as it twists and turns and often, probably in most cases, will identify closely with the inner struggles stresses and victories of all concerned. The eventual outcome will bring a lump to the throat of even the most pragmatic reader.

The amazon synopsis (...When Libby's husband Greg fails to return from a two-week canoe trip to the Canadian wilderness, the authorities soon write off his disappearance as an unhappy husband's escape from an empty marriage and unrewarding career) made me think that it would probably have references to Christian Faith, but that I would also be getting a decent enough mystery novel set in the Canadian Wilderness out of it. Hopefully a la Maura Isles (Ice Cold) or Tempe Brennan (read too many of her adventures to remember the titles, many involve Tempe in danger, in Canada)...

Unfortunately (or is that fortunately for me?), the actual dedication/author 'thanks' part spans 4 pages, which made it clear that this was not for me, as it is far too 'Faith'-heavy. And the copyright part tells you that a lot of Scriptures feature in this tale...so I left it there.
