Where do I begin ? I can't rate this boxed set highly enough. I wouldn't call myself a fan of country music, nor do you have to be to enjoy these 4 albums, just a lover of music. I am a fan of Vince Gill's, he has to be one of the best vocalists the music industry has ever seen, and he certainly doesn't disappoint on this latest project. This boxed set also shows his genius and diversity as a songwriter and musician, treating the listener to rock, pop, gospel, blues, americana, country, bluegrass, folk and acoustic. Its impossible to have a favourite album, or track for that matter, none of them are duds ! It would be a crime to leave any of these beauties out, Vince has so outdone himself. If you're tired of hearing the same music by artists who all sound the same........this boxed set is for you ! 43 brand new songs, all guaranteed to move and touch you in some way, on some level. Just honest, authentic, real music and value for money, a rare find These Days !

"Part of me thinks this has a chance to really break down some barriers, a chance to really go places that maybe I've never gotten to before," Gill says of the 43-track set, which includes collaborations with Sheryl Crow, jazz singer/pianist Diana Krall and the Everly Brothers' Phil Everly. "At the same time, my fear is that people will say, 'You know, 11 songs would've been just plenty.: interview with Vince Gill.

But 11 songs wouldn't have been just plenty. "These Days" has the makings of a landmark album. It also traces the musical history of one of country music's most versatile artists. These CD's all started with a call from Eric Clapton. He invited Vince Gill to play at one of his concerts-he said "I want the best guitar players, I know". Vince was deeply touched. He was at a point in his life when he was not sure which direction to turn- this invite gave him a new direction. This began a year of writing, gathering the best musicians, singing and pickin' the songs and putting this 4 CD together. Would 11 songs be best? No, how to choose which songs and how to put them together. The answers came slowly but surely, A 4 CD set was the answer, Never been done before and may never be done again, but it was the chance of a lifetime. 43 all new songs written and sung by Vince Gill and some of his best friends.

In the end the 4 sets of discs came together more easily than anyone thought.

The first disc known as the "Rockin' Record- Workin" On A Big Chill" and loud guitar, This set contains ten songs that all rock- Several duets- Rodney Crowell and "Nothin' For A Broken Heart" my favorite of disc one, but all are fast guitar playin', stompin and had clappin set.

43 brand new songs on 4 CDs by one of the great singer songwriter musicians and not one bad track. Great songwriting, great singing, great musicianship and great production. I am not going to pick out the highlights becasue all the tracks are highlights. All 4 CDs are superb. Wonderful and highly recommended to not only country music fans but those who love great music.

If you haven't yet heard this 4-disc collection, you are in for a treat. True, only country fans will love ALL of it, but all music lovers will love some of it. Vince plays and sings in his typical polished style but ventures into rock'n'roll, blues and jazz and manages to get away with them all, thanks to beautiful musical arrangements, top quality musicians and singers, and some great melodies.

I was hooked by track 1 on disc 1 (so I'm a pushover!) and I adore disc 2 but there are standout songs for me on all four discs. So for me, this is already one of the classics of my CD collection and it will stay in my car's CD changer for a long time to come.

These days is an awesome box set that has a permanent place in my car. Looking forward to a British tour if it ever happens. Pure brilliance.

Vince Gill has done the impossible by releasing simultaneously four CDs of such high quality that someone with a thirty year career would be hailed a genius had it been released as a career-spanning best-of (and incidently binning my theory that any single release of over 45 minutes probably contains superfluous filler).

Beautifully written, played and produced, the music on this LP will make your feet tap, tug at your heart strings and make you smile.

Well done Vince. This is stunning.
