Product Description

Product Description

When she was about to turn five, a little girl named Rae Hansen invited Richard Bach to her birthday party. Though deserts, storms, mountains, and a thousand miles separated them, Rae was confident that her friend would appear. There's No Such Place As Far Away chronicles the exhilarating spiritual journey that delivered Rae's anxiously awaited guest to her side on that special day--and tells of the powerful and enduring gift that would keep him forever close to her heart.

Written with the same elegant simplicity that made Jonathan Livingston Seagull a bestselling phenomenon, There's No Such Place As Far Away has touched the hearts of thousands of readers since its first publication in 1979. Richard Bach's inspiring, now-classic tale is a profound reminder that miles cannot truly separate us from friends...that those we love are always with us--every moment of the infinite celebration we call life.

A friend gave me my first copy of this book many years ago shortly before we were to be parted. Yes, I still missed him, but I knew the book was right. It's been my companion through tough times on many occasions through the years. As Richard Bach says "can miles truly separate you from friends? If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there?" Short? Yes. Simple? No. Worth buying? Yes!!!!!!!!!!! There's philosophy and truth and so much more that I can't put into words. Everyone should have someone special enough to give this book to.
Does all that make sense? I hope so. Whatever, just buy it!

Ok, bear with me here....
My mother sent me this wonderful "book" many years ago, whilst I was living abroad with my then young son.
I wholly understand now, over a decade later why she sent me it. Perhaps because I honestly think of it's "feel" every week, sometimes even daily.
I have given this amazing little book to several treasured friends, (a recommendation in itself).
If you can be a "deep or lateral thinker", or hold friendship close to your heart, this book will be both inspirational and moving to you.
If only the world could search past sexism, racism, bigotry and all other "isms", as this book can, we could aim for some friendship driven Utopia.

This man, Richard Bach had vision, compassion and deep motivation in this work, read it, enjoy it, and most of all, teach your kids it, what a wonderful legacy for the future generations.

Ok, Ive waffled enough, buy it, and breathe the sentiment in.
Oh, and Thanks Mum!

I was, still am, a big fan of the previous book, Illusions. So I was very keen to get this when it was first published decades ago.

I was disappointed. It was short, childish and seemed to have none of the resonance Illusions had for me. It was a bit like Wish You Were Here after Dark Side of the Moon.

Then I grew older, moved away from those I loved, learned the truth about distance making the heart grow fonder and then the book made sense to me. Now I can't read it without crying.

I'll give it to my family when they leave home, hoping they will come to realise the message, so skilfully wrapped in this small volume, is more complicated than a book ten times this size could convey.
