A wonderful jazz date with Anita O'Day 13 Nov. 2003
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Although this cd has a date of 2003 on the back and no other information is on the outer jacket, the music on this cd is actually a 1977 date(the year of my birth), it has more information on the inside than on the outside. Anita O'Day is in prime form for thsi 1977 session singing well known standards in her unique and chancetaking way. She improvises through 8 great tunes, O'day sounds particularly inspired on this set, and if you didn;t know it was recorded in 77, this sounds like it could be from the same period as her classic Verve 50's sessions, she sounds that great. This is one of her finest post Verve sessions and is well worth acquiring for the distinguished jazz listener.

MP3 sounds like a vinyl transfer 25 Jan. 2011
By William L. Porter - Published on
Verified Purchase
Musically this is a really fine performance, but there are pops and clicks in the MP3 download. I don't know if this is the same if you buy the CD.
The last piano flurry on track 11 is cut off and appears on track 12. It's not that the songs run together.
If this is not a vinyl transfer then the recording was taken from a deteriorated master but to me, it sounds like vinyl pops and clicks.
