Souse at it's best!!,

This review is from: There's More To Life Than This (Audio CD)
One thing you can never label Ben Westbeech is prolific....it's been 6 years since the excellent 'Welcome To The Best Years Of your Life' when we brought Soulful House (or Souse) to it's full potential. His style is smooth soul with dance beats that just demand that you listen to them. This is perfect bar / BBQ music enough substance to hook you but not too full on to stop the fun. Ben's voice is also very impressive and it's perfectly suited to the beats that are playing. If you liked 'Welcome' then you should really like this album, this is very similar but somehow better....although that might just be because I've waited 6 years for it!! Throughout the album he collaborates with different house producers so there is nice variety of tempos albeit roughly within the same style / genre. However 'Inflections' is a good example of how he manages to experiment but avoids incongrous production. Overall this is highly recommended, and easily a contender for album of the year. There are no bad songs on there but 'Stronger' is probably the early leader for the atand out track.

I bought this disc on the recommendations of other reviews. And honestly I have not been disappointed at all. It is a fun and enjoyable release from Ben Westbeech. The first time I came across his music was on the Hotel Costes series. I am looking forward to future releases, but I also hope that he will use a bit more of a variety of instruments to add body to his music.

This is just a brill album. I first heard falling and thought this is perfect ambience music. The whole album is full of this chill out/lounge-bar music. This is great mood music and will be happy playing whilst I'm driving.
