My Mum bought this for me when I was little and I loved the song. I forgot all about it until recently when I bought a Pete Seeger CD - 'Birds, Beasts, Bugs and Fishes (Little and Big)' - and it has this slightly dark but funny song on it. So I searched on Amazon and found the book I had when I was little. It's got holes in it so you can peek into the old lady's tummy to see all the animals she's gobbled up. Now my little girl enjoys singing the song with me about the old lady who swallowed the horse, cow, dog, cat, bird, spider and fly - perhaps she'll die?

I remember this book from my childhood and have seen it in shops, so i thought i would buy it for my little boy. When it arrived i was disappointed because it is so small. I was expecting a big A4 size book but it is only marginally bigger than a Cd case...........i guess you would call it pocket sized!
The story is as fabulous as ever, but because it is small the writing is crammed in and difficult to read.

I bought this (as well "The Hungry Caterpillar") for my daughter, as I remember them well from my own childhood. I am hoping that they will also stick in her mind as they have done in mine. With so many children's books on the market nowadays, it is hard to decide which to buy, so what a relief to find some old classics going strong and looking exactly as I remember them!

Delightful
Lovely, sturdy, colourful book with cut outs that gradually increase in size as the story progresses. Nice to sing along to, make animal noises, etc and much enjoyed.

Well overpriced
For £3.09 for five pages, this Kindle book is way overpriced. It took our five year old all of ten minutes to read the five pages in the book. I expected more.

Great book for pre schoolers
