Biography

Blues legend B.B. King has been spending time this year thinking about "The B.B. King That Was." There is his bricks, mortar and memory project down in a Mississippi blues crossroads, his very own B.B. King Museum, which acknowledges his past. And then, his new Geffen Records CD One Kind Favor which puts the blues maestro in competition, not with other players, but. himself. ... Read more in Amazon's B.B. King Store

5.0 out of 5 stars The real best of B.B. King 19 Mar 2002
Format:Audio CD
King's albums are a patchy lot to be honest and, it has to be said, some are poor stuff. This one is just the deal, all the way through. All but one of the tracks are written by by Dr John and the sadly missed Doc Pomus with Fathead Newman and Hank Crawford on sax and all are tremendous. The arrangements on such as The Victim and Born Again Human are outstanding. King plays blindingly throughout with passion grace and fire (as they say). Consistent brilliance, its just too damn short. Buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shine a light on this 10 Sep 2011
By Raymar
Format:Audio CD
This was the first BB King album I ever heard and for me it remains the best, if probably some the least known, of his work. More soulful and melodic than people will generally be used to but stunning in terms of lyrics and music. Try out the sax solos from Hank Crawford and Fathead Newman on Born Again Human! There are only six tracks and you will be left crying out for more. The problem is that there is little else in BB King's extensive back catalogue to compare this with. On listening to it, however, you will inevitably be drawn into his other work and, in that respect, it is an excellent introductory album. If you do stumble on this, try and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album 13 Oct 2009
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not hard-core blues, but one of B.B.'s most melodic and enjoyable albums. Don't hesitate to buy this if you are a B.B. fan!
