Product Description

CD Description

A brand new album of self-penned songs from Jim Whild Lea, legendary bassist and songwriter for SLADE, one of the most popular and influential groups in pop history. Jim's immense skill as a songwriter is evident throughout, alongside his much overlooked musicianship. Also incuded is a bonus disc recorded live at the Robin R&B Club in 2002, featuring versions of Slade hits Cum On Feel The Noize and Mamma We're All Crazee Now alongside classic tracks such as Hey Joe, I Am The Walrus, You Really Got Me, Substitute and Wild Thing.

For Slade fans this cd was worth the wait, from track 1 , Heaven can wait we knew this was Jim at his best,Smile of Elvis is stunning, Jim on piano , haunting , should've been a massive hit. Deadrock UK about departed rockstars, another potential single , there is a version of Universe, which was Slade's final single release December 1991. Time and Emotion gets into your head after one listen, the cd ends with a great track , Let me be your Therapy. The live cd recorded at the Robin 2 when Jim played a charity gig with a drummer / bass player shows how versatile and loud Jim can be live, this cd should appeal to lovers of good rock/pop music, it woould be great if Jim got some airplay too.

James Whild Lee was one of the main song writers in Slade, we all know that (or should do!!!) but because of his somewhat shy and quiet image (I'm sure the rest of slade would disagree haha!)I don't think he really got the respect he deserved.
This is a cd that will put the record straight. Look, I'm a metal fan 1st and formost, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate great songs when I hear 'em and this cd is full of them and man are they different from slade, but that goes to show how versatile the man is, infact the weird thing is, that even though Oasis sound like Slade at times, a couple of tracks on here, sound like Oasis, but if your not an Oasis fan, don't worry the rest of the cd is so different it's untrue and sooo catchy, it's quality song writing at it's best. Lets move on. I read somewhere, maybe on the sleeve notes that James doesn't rate his voice too much, well I disagree,I think that's another talent that this man posesses that's gone undiscovered. It was my intention to make this a small review, so I'd better get back on track. With this cd is another one that's live and man, it's a killer show and yet again, shows what a talent this man is, because on this cd he's playing guitar (not bass) like a whild man (sorry, couldn't resist!)but seriously, I love the guitar sound on this, it is sooo raw and I also love the way James explains each track the band are playing and why it's been picked to be played to this somewhat rowdy and sometimes annoying crowd. It's got to be said that the playing throughout this cd is superb, hat's off to the whole band completed by Dave Caitlin Birch on Bass and Michael Tongue on Drums, evertime I hear this cd (of covers)I want to grab my band(MADD BILL)by the scruff of their necks and say, LISTEN TO THIS and let's stop being so fussy about what to play and what's the best way to play it?, let's just get out there and do it!!!Please read the sleeve notes before playing this live disc, it tells the story and sets the tone. Just buy it, you won't regret it, there really is, something for everyone, what a talent.

Jim Lea is possibly the most under rated song writer of all time.

This album shows that there is a lot of amazing music out there that is passed over by music media.

Any of these songs could be a hit given the right promotion, and if Jim himself is not trendy enough to get the backing of a major label, surely it can only be a matter of time before someone covers some of his work and scores a major chart success.
