i thoroughly enjoyed this book. Krause is an experienced anthropologist and systemic therapist. She is also widely read in both fields and in this book deconstructs the notion of culture to the extent of ultimately suggesting it is an illusion. She arrives at this conclusion from a post-modernist route; basically noting that everyone is an individual with individual experience and stereotypical assumptions about cultural difference can be patronising and a way of imposing a dominant discourse. However her arguments are much more than a rehash of constructionist theory and based on wide experience of practice in both fields.
It is not always an easy book to read but rigorously argued and consistently from a value-base of respect for those she encounters. Some of the case-studies will stick in my mind I am sure for some years.
